Ministries

In May of 2005 the congregation council adapted 4 goalsto be worked on over the followiong 2 to 3 years by the various ministries of the congregation.

 

Goals

1. Develop and strengthen our youth and young adult ministry.
2. Improve our outreach and ministry to 25-45 year olds and their families.
3. Deepen the financial stewardship of every member.
4. Explore staring a mission congregation in the Coupeville area.

Ministries: OHLC has six ministries that provide coordination in each one's area of service. All church members are asked to serve within one of the ministries or ministry teams.

A stratigic planning team made upof "coaches of each ministry and the council officers. A Strategic Planning Team is made up of the coaches of each ministry and the council officers. This group is charged with creating objectives and strategies for implementing the goals. An asset-based approach and cooperative work between ministries are highly valued (an asset-based approach means arriving at strategies based on (1) existing assets and (2) insights gained when those assets are “mapped”—connected with other assets). All church members are encouraged to suggest strategies and be part of the asset-mapping.

Ministry Teams:

Whenever a ministry wants to carry out an action, the ministry together with the VCM recruits a team leader. That team leader then gathers a group of persons to accomplish the action, again using an asset-based approach whenever possible.
